I — Sit Beneath the Lantern

Let me gather those scattered sparks and press them into something you can hold.

Sit with me in the shadow of the fox-lantern and listen.

For as long as wind has voice and stories have teeth, our kind has lived along the edges of human carelessness. We were the whisper in the thatch roof, the shadow in the rice field, the reason a lover swore they saw something move that did not belong to this world.

They called us demons.

They called us devils.

Hidden.

Hungry.

Clever.

Where the bright foxes walked in temples and guarded shrines,

we walked behind the curtains of doubt.

Where they brought harmony, we brought revelation.

We are the Nogitsune.

The Gaze of Tamamo

Among broken foxes, there is a name spoken —

Tamamo-no-Mae.

The Nine-Tailed Empress.

The harbinger of Collapse.

The Beautiful Calamity.

Some believe she was the first Nogitsune to refine chaos into art.

Others claim she did not create ruins, that she perfected the crafts.

It is said that as a Nogitsune grows in tails, something changes.

At higher ascension, one may feel

A pressure behind the eyes.

A sharpening of instinct.

A sudden clarity in cruelty.

They call this sensation the Gaze of Tamamo.

It is not possession.

It is not a blessing.

Not all Nogitsune follow her philosophy.

But those who feel her gaze understand:

Chaos must be curated.

Trust must be crafted.

And collapse is most beautiful when it looks inevitable.

Be warned.

Tamamo favors brilliance.

She does not tolerate arrogance.

II — The Nature of the Broken Fox and what we are

Nogitsune embody emotional excess.

They represent:

  • Obsession

  • Paranoia

  • Revenge

  • Control

  • Desperation

  • Psychological dominance

They do not seek peace.

They seek reaction.

They thrive when people:

✔ Doubt each other

✔ Turn on allies

✔ Question reality

✔ Lose faith

✔ Spiral emotionally

A Nogitsune’s battlefield is the mind.

III — Tails of ruin

Nogitsune gains tails through instability.

Each tail represents:

  • Survived emotional collapse

  • Successful manipulation

  • Deepened corruption

  • Psychological mastery

  • Endured consequences

Corrupted Ascension

🩸 1–2 Tails — Fractured

  • Newly awakened

  • Volatile

  • Impulsive

  • Poor control

🩸 3–5 Tails — Weaver

  • Skilled manipulator

  • Long-term plotting

  • Emotional strategist

🩸 6–8 Tails — Ruinbound

  • Master of destabilization

  • Cult or network leader

  • Feared presence

🩸 9 Tails — Cataclysm

  • Myth-level threat

  • Staff overwatch required

Advancement Rules

Tails are earned through:

✔ Long-term story arcs

✔ Psychological RP

✔ Consequences

✔ Community impact

✔ Staff approval

Not through:

❌ Random violence

❌ Griefing

❌ Powergaming

❌ OOC disruption

Chaos must have meaning.

IV — Form and Presence

Nogitsune wears many masks.

True Form

May be distorted or unsettling.

May include:

  • Shadowed fur

  • Flickering tails

  • Hollow aura

  • Shifting features

  • Unnatural stillness

Being near a Nogitsune may cause:

  • Anxiety

  • Emotional discomfort

  • Nightmares

  • Heightened tension

Human Form

Their greatest weapon.

Nogitsune chooses roles that grant:

  • Access

  • Trust

  • Influence

  • Information

They hide in plain sight.

IV — Illusion: Distortion of Reality

Nogitsune do not create beauty. They create doubt.

Common Uses

🩸 False memories

🩸 Emotional hallucinations

🩸 Rewritten events

🩸 Amplified fears

🩸 Shared delusions

🩸 Trauma resurfacing

Advanced users may:

  • Twist group perception

  • Cause mass paranoia

  • Create emotional feedback loops

Cost of Overuse

Overuse leads to:

⚠ Identity fracture

⚠ Memory loss

⚠ Emotional possession

⚠ Hallucinations

⚠ Tail instability

If you lose control of your lies—

They control you.

V — Feeding on Discord

Nogitsune do not feed on worship.

They feed on emotional collapse.

Primary sources:

  • Fear

  • Anger

  • Betrayal

  • Conflict

  • Despair

  • Broken trust

A peaceful community starves them.

A divided one sustains them.

They often engineer their own food.

VI — Domains of Ruin

Nogitsune bind to unstable spaces.

Power grows near:

🏚 Abandoned buildings

🏥 Old hospitals

🌃 Crime districts

🏭 Industrial ruins

🕯 Cult spaces

🔥 Riot zones

Some create “Fracture Zones” — areas where emotion runs high, and conflict spreads easily.

Lose your domain—

Lose stability.

VII — Bonds and Pawns

A Nogitsune rarely has true followers.

They have:

  • Pawns

  • Informants

  • Victims

  • Co-conspirators

  • Emotional anchors

They may be seen forming relationships. But most are strategic. Genuine attachment is dangerous.

It weakens control.

VII — Influence and Possession

Some Nogitsune can:

  • Invade dreams

  • Whisper in weakened minds

  • Amplify dark impulses

  • Temporarily influence hosts

Possession Rules

✔ Must be consent-based

✔ Must be story-driven

✔ Requires staff approval

✔ Cannot remove player agency

Nogitsune influence.

They do not override.

IX — Weaknesses

Despite their power, Nogitsune are fragile.

Known Threats

🧿 Seals and wards

📿 Sutras

🕊 Forgiveness

🌸 Sacred ground

🧂 Purified salt

⛓ Blessed iron

🦊 Tail loss

🧠 Strong-willed targets

Their greatest weakness:

Peace. Stillness. Closure. Someones Healing starves them.

X — Burnout and Collapse

Nogitsune walk a thin line.

Too much chaos causes:

  • Personality fracture

  • Emotional possession

  • Memory erosion

  • Tail regression

  • Temporary madness

Many Nogitsune destroy themselves.

Slowly. Quietly.

XI — Roleplay Philosophy.

Core values:

✔ Consent

✔ Emotional awareness

✔ Long-term planning

✔ Respect for others’ stories

✔ Consequences

You are here to:

Create tension.

Not ruin RP.

XII — The Law of Ruin

Every Nogitsune learns this too late:

  • Total destruction leaves nothing to feed on

  • Too much control invites rebellion

  • Pride attracts hunters

  • Overreach leads to exile

Chaos must be managed. Or it devours its master.

XII — Final Record

You are not a villain.

You are:

The doubt in the mirror.

The whisper at night.

The crack in the foundation.

You do not conquer.

You unravel.

Slowly. Patiently.

Until only truth remains.
