I- We Stand Tall as the Trees

They always expect us to be loud. They expect rage, chaos, and a beast that snaps and tears through everything in reach. They think we're built like war and meant to live like disasters. To them, we are just another monster, bigger teeth, heavier hands, harder to kill. That is what dear tells them. But fear has never understood us.

We are not creatures of frenzy, we do not live for violence, nor do we measure worth by how many bodies we leave behind. We do not waste energy proving we are dangerous. A bear does not announce itself, a bear simply is.

Once the Veil broke, we lived in quiet places. Not because we were hiding, but because silence is scared. The mountains don't beg for attention, the forests don't scream to be respected. They endure, and everything else learns to move around them. That was our world.
Cabins far from the roads. Valleys where cell services die. Old trails where the air tastes clean and the earth still remembers what it was before humans paved it over. We built clans instead of hierarchies. Homes instead of dens. Bloodlines tied together by responsibility, not ego. We didn't care what humans were doing, we didn't care about their governments or their wars or their endless obsession with ownership.

We care about territory and family. Keeping the old places safe. To us the veil wasn't a blessing, but it wasn't a curse either. It was a simply another boundary, another rule in a world full of rules. We lived beneath it the way we lived beneath winter, quietly, patiently, and with the understanding that nothing lasts forever.

But even then, we felt the pressure building. Not in the sky, not in the news nor the streets. In the land. Animals moved strangely, the rivers carried the wrong scent. Storms came too early. The kind of signs humans ignore because humans have forgotten how to listen. But we did, we always listen. We survived by knowing what is coming long before it arrived in full.

And then Pride brought his war. Other races talk about that time like it was a grand story. It was destiny. We didn't see it as good and evil. Have never seen it that way. Because War is not a story, it is a sickness. It spreads through borders, poisons the soil, burns the forests, and turns children into soldiers. Can even turn the most kindhearted person into monsters. War takes everything and calls it necessary.

And since war spreads, we rose. Not because we wanted blood, but because we wanted it to stop. We fought the way bears do, not fast, not flashy, and not for glory. We fought with the certainty of something that refuses to be moved. We guarded clans, sheltered those who couldn't outrun the fight, crushed threats, and buried our dead without ceremony since there was no time to grieve.

Humans should understand, our strength is not rage. It is restraint. The ability to carry pain without becoming it. Once everything was over, the world felt exposed. Too bright, too loud. Like someone ripped the skin off the land and left it raw.

Now after everything has happened, our sleuths remain divided, though our nature has not changed. We still do not chasse war, but we will not run from it. We claim the land we protect, and we guard the borders because we know boundaries are ignored. But we do not take what is not ours. We warn all not to mistake our calm for weakness, or our silence for submission. We are tame, we are controlled. And our control is far more dangerous.

II - The Nature of Bears

We are defined by our endurance. Our nature heavy, steady, and unyielding. Built for protection rather than chaos. We are slow to trust and slow to anger, but when we are provoked, our wrath is absolute. Many Werebears live by tradition, valuing family, territory, and balance above pride. We carry a deep instinct to defend what is ours, not through reckless violence, but through unwavering strength.

Some would say we are gentle, on the other hand we have been called brutal. But to those in our packs we are truly unbreakable. We do not seek conflict, but we will finish it.

Our Prides are forged by:

A human can come and seek the change from a sleuth to join their ways. To be shown the trail and guidance from an ancestor and the way they must go to learn how to become one with the group. It requires guidance from an elder, and a few members higher in the sleuth.
